A little history
Port Haliguen is located in the Quiberon Bay, in the south of Brittany. This small estuary has sheltered boats putting into port since ancient times. Here, they would find protection and the water needed to supply their boats.
In 1840, the small harbour, protected by a dry stone jetty became a dry port, where merchant and fishing activities developed.
A large marina was built around the old port in 1968. This was developed until 1975 to accommodate the growth of pleasure boating.
The original site has kept its charm. Visitors walking by the iconic lighthouse, built in 1856, and lighthouse keeper’s house, now housing art exhibitions, find it very attractive.
